Whether high doses of vitamins during pregnancy are useful?

High doses of the vitamins accepted by the woman during pregnancy, enlarge risk of development of dangerous complication - preeclampsias.

The preeclampsia can arise in second half of pregnancy; thus at the woman arterial pressure that represents danger to a life of mother and a child sharply raises.

In the research spent by scientists from charitable centre Tommy’s, took part 2400 pregnant women concerning group of high risk of development of a preeclampsia: women with the high arterial pressure, having problems with kidneys, and also coagulations of blood suffering by disturbances or a diabetes.

All women received high doses of vitamins C and E or platsebo (inactive substance).

Results of research have shown, that vitamins not only did not protect from a preeclampsia, but, on the contrary, promoted its development. At the women receiving high doses of vitamins C and E, the preeclampsia has arisen a week earlier, than at the women accepting platsebo.
